TickScanner does not collect or upload your personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and makes no automatic network requests. Optional resource links open in your browser.

Camera

TickScanner uses your device's rear camera solely to display a live, filtered image of skin or fur on screen. Camera frames are processed entirely on your device and are not uploaded. You can freeze individual frames and explicitly choose to share them. You can revoke camera access in iOS Settings; the Guide remains available without it.

Frozen frames

Frozen frames and checklist progress are held in memory until the app terminates. Merely switching apps or closing a window may not end the session. Use Clear in History to remove frames, or Reset to start a checklist again. Sharing creates a temporary JPEG on your device. TickScanner removes it when the viewer closes or the app next launches. If the app is force-quit before cleanup, that file can remain until the next launch or until iOS removes it. Copies you save or send are controlled by you and the destination app.

Data we collect

TickScanner does not collect personal data, including camera images or checklist progress, from your device. There are no third-party analytics or advertising services in the app. Sites you open through external links apply their own privacy policies.

Children

TickScanner is designed to be used by adults checking themselves, children, and pets. Because it collects no data at all, it collects nothing from children either.

Not medical advice

TickScanner is a visual aid, not a medical device. Visual identification alone cannot confirm a tick species or assess your personal risk. Seek medical advice after any tick bite, especially if you develop fever, rash, or flu-like symptoms within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date above.

Support

To begin, tap Start Scanning and allow camera access. Use good lighting, switch scan mode on to invert colors, and adjust contrast and brightness. Pause a frame and open History to compare it with original color or share it.

If the camera cannot start, check camera access in Settings and try again. The app needs a working rear camera. Checklists and reference information are available in Guide even without camera access.
